I would like a Fee Proposal - what’s next?

We are thrilled that you have considered us for your design journey. Drop us a line via email or through our contact page. No matter how hard we try, we haven’t mastered mind reading just yet, so please introduce yourself, tell us a little bit about your project and outline what services or packages you would like us for. If you have a floor plan (architectural or a real estate marketing plan), please send this through to us - this helps us in understanding the scale of the project.

Once we hear from you, we’ll send through a formal Quotation for review. Once approved, we will send through a formal Fee Proposal + Client Agreement which outlines in detail the scope of works. We require a signed copy of the Client Agreement be sent to us prior a commencement invoice.

What are your design fees?

No two projects are quite ever the same. Studio Albus offer bespoke design services which are entirely dependent on the extent of services you would like to engage us for and the scale of the project.

Please send us through an outline of your project and we can put together a formal Quotation for review and comment.

I’m on a budget - help!

Don’t panic - there are many ways to ‘skin the cat’. Should our formal Quotation be not quite within reach but you would still like our input, please let us know your budgetary requirements. We can formulate the best plan of action to ensure that are expertise are utilised for areas of priority. We can also stage projects as your budget allows.

What is your payment structure?

Our payment structure is dependant on scale and type of project. We typically breakdown the project into 2-6 stages. Payment is required either prior to commencement or at completion of each stage as specified within the Payment Schedule in the Client Agreement.

Studio Albus will not progress onto the next stage of a project or produce a final issue of documentation until outstanding fees have been paid.

If a project is placed on hold without notice and Studio Albus has progressed with works that are yet to be billed, the studio will invoice for works completed to date.

Can I pay using Credit Card or PayPal?

We don’t like transaction fees. All payments are made through Bank Transfer. If you are unable to make payment through Bank Transfer do not fret, let us know and we will do some research.

I’m based rurally or outside of NSW, can we still work together?

As we say, ‘distance makes the heart grow fonder’. We accept long distance clients and love letters. Please contact us and we will develop the best strategy to carry out the design process.

What is the difference between an Interior Designer and an Interior Decorator?

In a nutshell, decoration refers to the furnishing of a space (think the cushions, the lounges, the art etc.) and design refers to the function and inner workings (think spatial planning, the selection of suitable finishes and fittings, and detailing). Whilst Interior Designers can also decorate, Interior Decorators cannot also design. That isn’t us hating on Interior Decorators, it comes down to training and expertise. Our team consists of university-educated (and qualified) Interior Designers in Interior Architecture and Interior & Spatial Design.

Do I need an Architect?

If you’re requiring expertise on the internal workings of a space, then the answer is no. However, if you require expertise on the external workings of a building (such as structure and construction), the surrounds and the built environment, then the short answer is yes. For new builds, we would definitely suggest engaging both an Architect and Interior Designer so that your Design Team have all skill-bases covered. We would suggest the same for alterations and additions. Renovations can mostly be undertaken by an Interior Designer.

We regularly work with Architects for all facets of design (single-residential, multi-residential, retail / commercial) and would be more than happy to recommend a few practices that are tried and true.

Do you Project Manage?

We don’t project manage per se, we generally leave this up to the builder or if a specific Project Management Team have been engaged for the project. However, we do suggest that we do regular site visits during the design process to ensure that your vision has come to life how we have intended it to - this may include: checking tiling, paint, joinery install etc.
